The Hafnarborg collection can be viewed on Sarpur, a cultural database for Icelandic museums. The data is hosted centrally, and the utmost care is taken with all its management, including updates and backups. Each member museum owns the data that it registers in Sarpur.

In 2020, Hafnarborg made an agreement with Myndstef (The Icelandic Visual Art Copyright Association) which authorizes the digital publication of the museum’s works on Sarpur. Following this, work was done to make images that had not previously been approved for publication accessible on the public Sarpur website. Furthermore, the museum staff works systematically to ensure the accuracy of the data.
